Meet the Team: Jason Wilderink
To mark 25 years of Geovert, we're sharing the stories of the people who have been part of the journey. First up, Jason Wilderink, one of our ace Superintendents in New Zealand.

Jason Wilderink joined Geovert eight years ago after seven years at another drilling company, drawn by a mate who had recently made the same move and hadn’t stopped talking about the job, the company and the crew. Jason wanted a change and a different style of drilling, and once he arrived, he never looked back.
He started as a driller and worked his way up through supervisor and works manager roles to his current position as Superintendent of the Wellington division, but the pivotal chapter of his Geovert story came early, when he was handed responsibility for the Transmission Gully project as lead senior supervisor. At one point he had 37 people working across a 27-kilometre stretch. It was a steep learning curve in running teams, and it set the direction for everything that followed.
Ask Jason what he’s most proud of and he doesn’t point to a single project. He talks about watching his teams progress into new roles, and about the overseas and interstate work that brings together people from different divisions and different countries, all finding ways to work as one. That theme, people over projects, runs through everything he says about the company.
“The people on the ground are the most important part of Geovert. Without my team, I really don’t have a job.”
Mentoring the next generation of supervisors and works managers matters to him as much as any technical challenge.
He’s watched the company expand into new countries and take on bigger, more complicated work over his eight years, but he reckons the can do, will do attitude that runs through Geovert hasn’t shifted an inch. His advice to anyone starting out: work hard, and the opportunities are genuinely endless.
“There’s a real career to be had here.”
