Lorne to Skenes Creek Rockfall Netting
Geovert were engaged by VicRoads to install erosion control and batter protection systems at 9 sites located on the Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Skenes Creek. The sites were identified by VicRoads as posing an unacceptable rockfall risk along the popular tourist route and its motorists.
Project Overview
Construction involved working closely alongside VicRoads and traffic management crews to help keep the public road clear and safe despite high-risk works being undertaken above. A series of draped rockfall netting systems were installed on steep rockfall-prone cuttings to catch and contain rock debris as they come loose within the system. Geovert remain involved with the maintenance and removal of captured material within the drapes.
