AIM Past Project Title
The Hutt Estuary Bridge required extensive concrete repairs and enhanced corrosion protection to improve the integrity and operating life of the bridge. The specifications required; concrete patch repair to all delaminated, cracked and spalled areas with sacrificial anodes within the repairs. Steel spacer nuts and bolts blast cleaned, coated and reinstated in the repairs. Silane based coating application to all beams, diaphragms, headstocks, approach spans and piers – essentially all concrete elements above the water level.
Asset Integrity Maintenance Capabilities
Geovert were contracted through a completive tendering process with an alternative method to accessing the underside of the structure. This approach improved program, reduced traffic management requirements and was a more cost-effective solution for the client. A combination of rope access and staged tensioned netting was used for the blasting and corrosion protection works which also doubled as an effective containment system. A high-pressure painting unit was used to ensure enough capacity in the system to spray the 170m long structure from one place, with return lines, to mitigate any environmental risks by containing the system in a suitable bund away from the waterways.
