Blowering Dam

McMahon Contractors awarded Geovert the contract work for drilling and installing 500 rock bolts for strengthening and widening the spillway which required advanced rigging and rope access techniques as the spillway was in excess of 45 degrees. Drilling methods included using track mounted rigs, excavator mounted rigs and rope access rigs. The second part of the contract was to design, supply and install 30m long, 19 no. 15.2mm strand anchors through the crest of the spillway. This work includes pre-grouting, video surveillance, permeability testing and the installation and monitoring of load cells for the certified anchors.

Stockton Rockfall Protection Barrier

To access the rich coal seam which was covered by up to 30m of overburden, a rockfall barrier was required to remove the risk of damage below the mining lease bondary and protect the nearby endangered species. Geovert, a recognised authority in the field of rockfall protection & slope stability, were contracted to design and install a 1000 to 3000kJ Geobrugg dynamic barrier. The barrier is 1.7km long and follows a ridgeline escarpment, making this the longest rockfall protection barrier in the southern hemisphere.
