Piled Anchored Retaining Walls

Piled & Anchored Retaining Walls

Landslides & Landslips do not always occur in areas that are safely or economically accessible with earthworks machinery and heavy piling equipment. We’ve been involved with the design and construction of micro piled and anchored retaining walls which have been constructed on difficult access slopes with light weight drilling and construction equipment on sites that cranes and excavators are unable to reach or deemed unsafe.

Common areas that we’ve encountered are on steep slopes beneath roads, rail embankments and above or below residential and commercial properties that have restricted access. When a property may require active stabilisation and backfill caused by toppling or landslips, the drilling & installation of micro piles and the placement of a reinforced concrete capping beam is an economically engineered solution. The concrete beam can carry forces from slope movements and direct them into the stable subsoil – via the vertical micro piles, combined with anchors drilled back into the slope. To secure the slope below an active slope stabilisation mesh is simply fixed to the concrete beam by eyebolts & anchored below.
